In the wake of the passing of 72-year-old Henry Boucha, the hockey community is mourning the loss of a star born and raised in northwest Minnesota.
Boucha, who was raised in Warroad, has always excelled at Minnesota’s sport. He was a standout winger at Warroad High School where he scored a lot of goals and helped the hockey team win the Minnesota High School State Hockey Tournament in 1969. After Boucha was hurt, the team lost the championship game against Edina in overtime, but people started to notice his rising star.
Boucha was asked to join the U.S. National Team while serving in the U.S. Army and participated in the 1972 Olympics, when the Americans won silver.
